The City of Derry Building Society was established in 1876 and has been providing a safe haven for its investors' savings and mortgage home loans ever since. To this day the City of Derry remains a traditional mutual building society, providing competitive savings products and flexible, straightforward mortgages, coupled with a friendly personal service. As a mutual organisation the Society is owned by its investing and borrowing members. The Society's accounts are available to anyone resident in Northern Ireland although, in practice, most business originates from the Londonderry area.
The City of Derry Building Society is a signatory to the Banking Code, copies of which are available on request from the Society, and is a member of the Building Societies Association. The Society is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (Register Number 206025) and participates in the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. The Society has an internal complaints procedure but complaints we can not resolve are referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
