Glorious day at Foyle Golf Centre

A great day out was had by all at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf outing on Friday 8th June at Foyle Golf Centre. The sun shone down on over 80 Members and Guests drawn from all parts of the north-west. They competed for the glittering array of prestigious prizes supplied by Bank of Ireland. The weather certainly enhanced everyone's spirits and the day got off to a resounding shotgun start at 1.00 p.m.

Proudly taking the trophy for First Member was Patrick McGonagle (Jnr)(4) 36PTS representing Pakflatt, followed closely by Colm Bell (10) 36PTS, Mark Soal (22) 35PTS, Cahir McGeedy (7) 34 PTS, Maurice Brennan (6) 34PTS, Basil Kyle (19) 33PTS

Team Prizes, provided by the Ramada Da Vinci's Hotel, were the subject of intense competition throughout the day. Marc Soal, Sean Ferry, Jackie Feeney & Robbie Browne finished with a fantastic team score putting them in first position, followed strongly by John Hasson, Karl Doherty, Michael McCullough & Andy Meenagh, with a close squeeze in 3rd position David Ayton, Roy Little, Colm Bell & Bill Henderson.

Karl Doherty (16) 36 PTS lifted the Austin's Trophy, open to members and guests, Ciaran O'Neill (8) 32PTS won the Sponsors Prize. In the Guests Category, Jackie Feeney (21) 36 PTS won first prise, closely followed by Andy Meenagh (12) 35PTS.

A delighted Kathleen O'Doherty (32) 38Pts lifted the ladies prize, followed by Winifred Black (15) 34Pts taking 2nd prize and Pamela McConnell (27) 32Pts on 3rd.

Ian Crowe, Chamber President, said

"This event just gets bigger and better each year. There is great enthusiasm among our members to be part of this golf outing and the business competitive spirit is very much alive - even on the Golf Course" Mr Crowe went on to congratulate all the winners together with the Main Sponsor, Bank of Ireland and also Ramada Da Vincis as without their loyal support this event would not have happened.
