Living labs Global Award 2012

The Londonderry Chamber of Commerce would like to invite the global award initiative "Living labs Global Award 2012" amongst the local community of businesses and entrepreneurs. This presents an invaluable opportunity for local companies to have international projection and become part of the international community that forms the leaders on service innovation in cities.

Living labs Global is a non-profit association based in Copenhagen and Barcelona, promoting service innovation in cities through the use of new technologies, available new delivery processes and new approaches to innovation. We are working together with 50 global cities and 500 providers of innovative solutions to cities. Our activities are focused around the online Showcase Portal, Matchmaking Summits on Service Innovation in which we bring together cities and innovators, our annual Living Labs Global Award (in collaboration with 20 international cities worldwide) and publications.

The Living Labs Global Award 2012 brings together 20 global cities in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas which jointly call for solutions for their most pressing challenges to which companies and research centres with ready solutions are responding. The award was launched two months ago and over a 5 month process including 2 rounds of evaluation, the winners will be selected (one for each city) who, rather than receiving prize money, will receive an invitation to pilot their solutions in the correspondent cities. This process will culminate in the Award Ceremony and Summit in Rio on May 2/3 2012 where the 20 representatives of the Cities participating will announce the winning solutions.

Until February 17 2012, companies can present their solutions to meet any of the 20 challenges that cover areas such as Affordable Housing, Tourism, Prevention of Obesity, Transport & Mobility, Access to the Knowledge Society and Inclusive Governance.

If you are interested in encouraging local companies take part in the Living Labs Global Award, there are different ways in which this can be done:

• Putting an announcement on your website or newsletter about the award.

• Distribute an invitation amongst your local network,

• Publishing the press release amongst your members as well other organizations you think may help us promote the award.
