City Centre Initiative was established in April 2000 with a revised purpose, aims and roles endorsed by the key stakeholders. The new partnership has a different remit, structure and ethos to its predecessor Town Centre Management. City Centre Initiative is a public-private partnership focused on improving the city centre. The key stakeholders are Derry City Council, Londonderry Development Office and the private sector.

The purpose of the organisation is to be a strong partnership to make the city centre better for everyone. The organisation is currently developing a new City Centre Strategy and Action Plans which will outline our business plan for the next 3 years.

The Chamber of Commerce works in partnership with City Centre Initiative on all matters relating to the city centre which will have an impact on the economic development of the entire region. The Chamber has been active with CCI on the CCTV scheme, City Centre Parking, Communications and the Walled City Initiative.
