This is a growing and powerful movement which recognises that social and economic responsibilites are central to business competitiveness.

City Centre Initiative

City Centre Initiative

City Centre Initiative was established in April 2000 with a revised purpose, aims and roles endorsed by the key stakeholders. the new partnership has a different remit, structure and ethos to its predecessor Town Centre Management. City Centre Initiative is a public-private partnership focused on improving the city centre. The key stakeholders are Derry City Council, Londonderry Development Office and the private sector.

Ilex - the Urban Regeneration Company for the Derry City Council Area

Ilex Urban Regeneration Company Ltd (Ilex) has been established by the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) and the Department for Social Development (DSD) in Northern Ireland to promote the social and economic regeneration of the Derry City Council area.

The Company works at 'arms length' from our parent Government Departments, operating like a private sector concern, yet we have the ability to call upon the Departments for endorsement of regeneration projects and their statutory powers to aid this work.

The District Partnership for the Derry City Council area was formed in March 1996 to deliver £8.3m under the Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation. To date over 204 projects have been supported over the four measures of Social Inclusion, Employment, Urban/Rural Regeneration and productive Investment.

North West Institute of Further & Higher Education

North West Institute of Further and Higher Education

The North West Institute of Further and Higher Education is the largest education and training provider in the greater North West, offering excellent opportunities in education and training. The portfolio of provision ranges from basic education to postgraduate levels, offering in excess of 600 programmes. The Institute is a major employer in the region , with some 800 professionally qualified staff.

North West Region Cross Border Group

The North West Region Cross Border Group comprises Derry City Council, Donegal County Council, Limavady Borough Council and Strabane District Council and represents a population in excess of 300,000 constituents. The Group has been in existence for over twenty-five years and, since 1993, has had a full time secretariat funded by the INTERREG Programme.

Peace and Reconciliation Group

The work of the Peace and Reconciliation group is to build bridges between communities who have been polarised by the historical and political events that have occurred.

Women in Enterprise

Women in Enterprise are a bona fide women's group addressing the needs and barriers facing women in society in the areas of business ownership. The group has successfully placed itself amongst the key agencies and players in local and regional economic development and is both a legally constituted committee and a non profit making Company Limited by Guarantee.
