The District Partnership for the Derry City Council area was formed in March 1996 to deliver £8.3m under the Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation. To date over 204 projects have been supported over the four measures of Social Inclusion, Employment, Urban/Rural Regeneration and productive Investment.

The District Partnership in partnership with Derry City Council has formed the Peace II Priority 3 Steering Group which is responsible for establishing the new Local Strategy partnership for the Peace II Programme. This partnership evolved from the District Partnership into the renamed and restructured Local Strategy Partnership and is responsible for developing an Integrated Strategy for Priority 3 funding under the Peace II Programme.
