EURES Cross Border Tax Briefing – Seminar on Tax and Social Security implications for Cross-Border Workers and Employers

This virtual seminar will provide both cross border workers and employers with information on social security and tax issues such as redundancy payments, pension lump sums, tax relief on pension contributions, tax requirements for cross border workers, social insurance benefits and pensions in a cross-border situation.

Attendees will also receive information on implications for companies with staff members who work in both jurisdictions. It will also serve as an introduction to the Free Services offered by EURES and helpestablish and strengthen networks between EURES advisers and employers.

 Speaker bios:

Dawn McLaughlin, President

Dawn is the principal of the progressive, award winning accountancy practice, Dawn McLaughlin & Co.

She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (FCA) and has aBSc (Hons) in Accounting and Economics. Dawn trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse where she managed the SME department in the North West branch before establishing her own practice.

Forthe past 34 years Dawn has specialised in advising locally owned and managed SME’s throughout the UK and Ireland.

Dawn is currently Chair of the Chartered Accountants North West Network, she has been the Chair of the Institute of Management – NW Ulster Branch, a member of the Regional Board for Northern Ireland and also on the Member Services Committee of the Ulster Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland as the NW representative and a member of the Board of the local leadership team of Business in the Community.

She was founder member of the Support My Business NI Initiative providing mentoring and workshops on a pro bono basis to Northern Ireland businesses.

Rose Tierney, Tierney Tax Consultancy

Rose Tierney is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser qualified to practice in both the UK and Ireland. After many years in practice in London and Dublin she set up Tierney Tax Consultancy. Having advised businesses from large multinationals to sole trader start-ups Rose now uses that wealth of experience in assisting individuals and businesses on tax matters arising in both jurisdictions.

Tierney Tax Consultancy also operates as an independent tax adviser for professional accountancy and legal firms enhancing the services that they can provide to their own clients.

Orla Rafferty, Orla Rafferty Consulting

Orla Rafferty, from Orla Rafferty Consulting, provides bespoke consulting and coaching services, tailored to meet business, sector, and individual needs.

Orla Rafferty is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel andDevelopment (CIPD), and over 24 years HR Management experience having worked across multiple industries and sectors. In 2013, she set up her own consulting business.

Her specialisms include HR, business strategy, leadership, motivating self and others, employee relations, workplace conflict, employee investigations and mediation. Over the years she has gained working knowledge and experience of employee relations within US, Poland, UK and Ireland. She has vast experience in company  restructuring, change management and dealing with challenging situations and times.

Paul Clancy, CEO, Londonderry Chamber of Commerce

Paul Clancy qualified as an Electrical Engineer BSc Elec Hons from Trinity College Dublin and has Diplomas in both Manufacturing and Human Resource Management with the Irish Management Institute (IMI).

He has held a number of senior management roles withing the Agri, Food, Drinks and Manufacturing Industries within Ireland, UK and Scandinavia.

Paul has held Sales Director, Marketing and Managing Director roles and most recently was the MD of Baxi Ireland (Part of BDR Thermea).

As CEO of the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, Paul is looking forward to leading this organisation through what are some very challenging times
