Event overview

This seminar will provide both cross border workers and employers with information on social security and tax issues such as redundancy payments, pension lump sums, tax relief on pension contributions, tax requirements for cross border workers, social insurance benefits and pensions in a cross-border situation.

Attendees will also receive information on implications for companies with staff members who work in both jurisdictions. It will also serve as an introduction to the Free Services offered by EURES and help establish and strengthen networks between EURES advisers and employers.

This will be our first in-person business briefing event since Covid  so please be assured that all social distancing requirements and safety measures will be in place.

Breakfast will be served from 8.30am.

Speaker bios:

Redmond McFadden, President, Londonderry Chamber of Commerce

Redmond is Regional Manager of Danske Bank in the northwest and President of Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, as well as past President of Londonderry Junior Chamber.

Redmond is a career banker, having joined the industryin 1986 and worked through most roles to his current position. His time in banking has allowed him to gain a wealth of experience across the banking sectors including Branch Banking, Business and Corporate Banking, and Mortgage Services.

He has worked throughout Northern Ireland but is delighted to be now based in Derry-Londonderry. He has a keen interest in supporting the business community in the northwest and has given his experience on the boards of Noribic, Limavady College and NW Board of Young Enterprise. He has also been on the board of Foyle Foodbank and has worked to fund raise for Children In Crossfire.

Rose Tierney, Tierney Tax Consultancy

Rose Tierney is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser qualified to practice in both the UK and Ireland. After many years in practice in London and Dublin she set up Tierney Tax Consultancy. Having advised businesses from large multinationals to sole trader start-ups Rose now uses that wealth of experience in assisting individuals and businesses on tax matters arising in both jurisdictions.

Tierney Tax Consultancy also operates as an independent tax adviser for professional accountancy and legal firms enhancing the services that they can provide to their own clients.

Paul Clancy, CEO Londonderry Chamber of Commerce

Paul who has been recently appointed as CEO of the Chamber has more than 20 years director and management level experience across a range of sectors. These includeagriculture, drinks, manufacturing and construction.

His priority isto support local businesses through the current crisis.
