For the third in our series of Entrepreneurship in Action site visits we will be hearing from Patrick McGonagle, Managing Director of Pakflatt (UK) Ltd.
The Pakflatt company was founded on March 6th 1986 and is a design & manufacturing business within the global elections industry, offering to its many customers arange of constantly evolving election equipment.
The company is committed to research, development, design and manufacture, right to the top of the organisation. In his capacity as Managing Director, Patrick McGonagle inspires a design ethos that reaches every element of the organisation. He is Chartered to the UK Engineering Council and was elected a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology [IET] in April 2009 in recognition of his achievements in product design.
In addition, the management team at the company exhibits a strong leadership style, a commitment to Health & Safety, Quality and to the Environment. These policies are fundamental to its reputation and key to ensuring its long term success.
Customers include every election authority in Great Britain andIreland, a number of countries in the European Union & Scandinavia and most recently, a new distributorin Australia. Their largest export market is in the United States of America, where their products are tobe found in over 1,000 counties across 46 states and three US NationalTerritories.
In the past 18 months, the company has been working through its US distributor, with a number of America’s leading election technology companies to develop bespoke booths, kiosks & pedestals for the very latest COTS Voting Technology.
The company is currently working with election officials in Sweden toimprove the privacy of the electoral process and with the government of the Irish Republic toimprove resources for blind voters.
Pakflatt is also a main dealer with Kodak Alaris Document Imaging Systems and is partnering with a major UK Local Authority in developing improvements to the UK postal vote process.
