Former Scottish First Minister to speak in Derry
The former First Minister of Scotland and former leader of the Scottish National Party, Alex Salmond, is to speak to a Londonderry Chamber of Commerce lunch this coming Friday (10th June).
Alex Salmond MP is the Scottish National Party MP for Gordon, since 2015. As First Minister for Scotland 2007 – 2014, he headed the campaign for Scottish Independence, and was leader of the SNP for over 20 years.
Gavin Killeen, President of the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, said: “It is real coup for the Chamber of Commerce to attract such a high calibre speaker to our next leadership lunch. Alex Salmond is not only one of the most successful politicians in our islands, he is also a very strong advocate of remaining within the European Union. As the Brexit campaign reaches its end, we can sense an increasing interest and concern locally about the outcome. This is a very timely visit for one of our islands’ most senior and experienced politicians.”
In recognition of the wide interest in Mr Salmond, attendance at the lunch is extended beyond the membership of the Chamber of Commerce. Tickets for the lunch at the Bishop’s Gate Hotel can be purchased from the Chamber for £30, plus VAT.
