Allstate Marks 5 Years Volunteering with Young Enterprise

Allstate is marking five years of providing volunteersupport for the charity’s business education programmes in the North West. Since2012, employees from the software development company have given their time toprovide hands-on guidance and mentoring to students taking part in YoungEnterprise.

This academic year, Senior Managers at Allstate, AidanO’Kane and Columb Duffy, volunteered as Business Advisors to the studentcompany at Lumen Christie College in Derry/Londonderry, who were taking part inthe Company Programme. This programme allows students to develop a marketableproduct and business plan before testing the product on the market at YoungEnterprise Trade Fairs.

ColumbDuffy commented: “As a responsible employer, Allstate is committed to inspiringthe next generation of technologists, and as a business advisor for the YENIprogramme, I personally have had the honour of working with talented students,enabling them to realise their potential through meaningful mentorship.”

YoungEnterprise relies on volunteers to educate, develop and inspire students fromPrimary to University level, providing them with a first-hand understanding ofthe wide range of opportunities that are available to them in the world ofwork. This innovative approach is designed to kick-start students’entrepreneurial creativity, inspiring them to become future business leaders.

Ciaran Sheehan, Chairman of Young Enterprise commented: “Overthe last five years, Allstate volunteers have been enthusiastic and dedicatedto helping young people in the North West have a meaningful experience on YoungEnterprise programmes. We are so grateful for businesses such as Allstate forworking with us to develop the entrepreneurial skills of young people and lookforward to continuing to work with them in the next academic year.”
