Ciaran and Stephen Devine, Evermore Renewable Energy win joint Entrepreneur of the Year
The award of ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ is a high profile one and is a valued mark of esteem for the winners.
Brothers Ciaran and Stephen Devine of Evermore Renewable Energy are the well deserved joint winners of the title ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ for 2014.
Evermore Renewable Energy have worked hard for several years to develop the biomass renewable power plant which is now being built on a site at Lisahally.
The brothers have developed a renewable energy project using state-of-the-art technology that will reduce Northern Ireland's dependency on fossil fuels. Once operational it will produce enough electricity for over 25,000 homes.
The project is an important addition to the infrastructure of the North West and marks a valuable step on the road towards making the region self-reliant in energy terms.
Sinead McLaughlin, chief executive of Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, said: “Ciaran and Stephen Devine and the Evermore Renewable Energy tick so many boxes as far as this year’s awards are concerned.
“The brothers are true entrepreneurs. They had an innovative idea, they have used innovative technologies and they have pursued their vision with enterprise and determination. In doing so, they are creating a business that could become one of enormous importance to the city and region.
“They are first class entrepreneurs and well deserved winners of the title.”
Jim Roddy, chief executive of the City Centre Initiative, added: “The City Centre Initiative warmly congratulates Ciaran and Stephen Devine on winning the title Entrepreneur of the Year. We hope that Evermore will become a foundation stone of the local business community for many years to come.”
