‘Londonderry Chamber’s InCamera Dinner with DoE’


The Londonderry Chamber hosted a verysuccessful In Camera Dinner with the Department of the Environment on WednesdayDecember 3rd at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel. The MinisterMark H Durkan was joined by senior DoE colleagues Fiona Mc Candless, ChiefPlanner within Department of the Environment and Terry A’Hearn, Chief Executiveof the NIEA.

The In Camera Dinner providedLondonderry Chamber members with the opportunity to have in depth discussionsand to puttheir questions and issues direct to theDepartment of theEnvironment in the intimate setting of the Beech Hill Hotel.  Whilst alsoproviding the Department with an opportunity to outline its role, the currentchallenges it faces in the North West and engage business in support of keyobjectives.

Chamber President GerryKindlon said:

‘This City needs to planfor Investment, we need the support of DoE to ensure that we are investmentready and Derry is seen as a good place to do business. On behalf of ourmembers, the Chamber is involved in our new Community Plan and an integratedEconomic Strategy for Derry City and Strabane District Council.  It isvitally important that the new regional development plan dovetails and supportsthis region’s aspiration for growth and prosperity’.
