Successful Eures Cross Border Tax Seminar
Londonderry Chamber of Commerce in association with EURES Cross Border Partnership held a very successful Breakfast Briefing on Tax Implications for cross border workers and employers in the Bishop’s Gate Hotel on Tuesday 24th May 2016.
The guest expert speaker was Rose Tierney of Tierney Tax Consultancy. This event covered a range of topics affecting cross-border employment, including redundancy pay, social insurance benefits, pension lump sums, tax relief on pension contributions and tax rules. The seminar also covered the implications for employers who employ cross-border workers, or have staff members who work in both jurisdictions. Attendees were given the opportunity to direct questions to Rose Tierney during a question and answer session.
Chief Executive of the Chamber of Commerce and EURES Adviser, Sinead McLaughlin, said: “Removing obstacles for cross-border workers is an important issue for the Chamber. The North West region must operate collaboratively on a cross-border basis if it is to be economically successful. Supporting our employers and employees on both sides of the border is in the interest of the shared region.”
A booklet of frequently asked questions and answers for cross border workers and employers has been published to accompany this event. A copy can be obtained free from the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce by calling Laverne on Tel: 028 71262379 or email email@example.com.
This is just one of the many EURES Cross Border events the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce has hosted in the last few years with more planned for the future. For more information on EURES log on to www.eures-crossborder.orgDownload the presentation from the event here
